One of my biggest childhood dreams was to visit Athens. I’ve always loved studying about ancient Greece in school and fascinated me to imagine one day to be there and see Temple of Olympian Zeus.

When we finally went there last year, the modern city surprised me, I felt at home with the similarities with Brazil, with the receptivity of the Greeks and the wonderful cuisine. We arrived just in time of the rain welcoming the Spring, the weather was pleasant besides getting wet.

The first adventure was to choose a cake having with no idea of its flavour.
Talking to a bartender we got to try traditional drinks such as Raki and Mastiha.

It was a delicious chocolate caramel coffee cake / Era um delicioso bolo de chocolate com caramelo e café

PT/ Um dos meus maiores sonhos de infância era conhecer Atenas. Sempre adorei estudar sobre a Grécia Antiga na escola e me encantava em imaginar um dia estar lá e conhecer o Olimpo, Templo de Zeus.

Quando finalmente fui lá ano passado, a cidade moderna me surpreendeu, me senti em casa com as similaridades com o Brasil, com a receptividade dos Gregos e com a culinária maravilhosa. Chegamos bem na época de chuva do começo da Primavera, o clima tava agradável tirando a parte de ter que se molhar.

A primeira aventura foi escolher um bolo sem ter idéia do sabor.
Conversando com um bartender conhecemos bebidas tradicionais como Raki e Mastiha.

Next to Dionysus Theatre / Ao lado do Teatro de Dionísio

To be able to sit next to the famous Theatre of Dionysos was amazing!

And one of the coolest experiences was meeting the Greek stray cats, who are very lovely. In a restaurant a few cats walked beside the tables outside, and one of them just decided to sit on my lap! I was amazed!

PT/ Poder sentar ao lado do famoso Teatro de Dionísio foi emocionante!

E uma das experiências mais legais foi conhecer os gatos de rua Gregos, que são muito amáveis. Em um restaurante alguns gatos andavam ao lado das mesas do lado de fora, e um deles simplesmente decidiu sentar no meu colo! Eu fiquei maravilhada!

And of course I visited a cemetery (like always), and look what I found there: a turtle!
PT/  E é claro que eu visitei um cemitério lá(como sempre faço), e olha o que eu encontrei: uma tartaruga!
