Here I will share my experience, memories and photos from the Festival I attended 2 years ago.

Aqui eu vou compartilhar minhas experiências, memórias e fotos do Festival que eu fui 2 anos atrás.

EN/  In 2014 I went to my first festival ever, in a town in the countryside of Belgium.
I never really got much interest in festivals, they are quite expensive, you really have to be into the bands playing. That year one of (if not the most) my favourite bands were playing, the Descendents. Few other bands that I like were there too, like The Offspring, ALL, Screeching Weasel, Bodyjar and etc. I couldn’t miss this chance to see the Descendents for the first time, they attend few festivals and rarely come to Europe.

From London we got Eurostar to Brussels, there we got a train to Meerhout, where buses were serving a ride to the Festival area. We had to buy a tent, it was the best way to enjoy the festival as the hotels were all in town, making it difficult to get transport at 1am.

I took my Pentax to this trip, I wasn’t sure about how safe it could be there, if we would manage to get good lockers or if I could damage my Canon around so many people. It was the best solution, I managed to shoot B&W film and under the lighting conditions and from the crowd, they came out quite good in quality. Not to mention that it got covered by dust in the very last night, as there was no grass anymore under our feet.

PT/  Em 2014 fui para o meu primeiro festival, em uma cidade do interior da Bélgica.
Eu nunca tive muito interesse em festivais, eles são muito caros, você realmente tem que gostar das bandas tocando. Naquele ano, uma das (se não a mais) minhas bandas favoritas estava lá, o Descendents. Algumas outras bandas que eu gosto estavam lá também, como The Offspring, ALL, Screeching Weasel, Bodyjar e etc. Eu não podia perder esta oportunidade de ver o Descendents, pela primeira vez, eles vão em alguns festivais e raramente vêm para a Europa.

De Londres pegamos Eurostar para Bruxelas, lá pegamos um trem para Meerhout, onde os ônibus estavam servindo uma linha para a área do Festival. Tivemos de comprar uma barraca, que era a melhor maneira de aproveitar o festival já que os hotéis estavam todos na cidade, o que tornaria difícil conseguir transporte às 1h da manhã.

Eu levei a minha Pentax para esta viagem, eu não tinha certeza sobre o quão seguro poderia ser lá, se íamos conseguir bons armários ou se eu poderia danificar a minha Canon em torno de tantas pessoas. Foi a melhor solução, eu consegui tirar fotos em filme P&B  e sob as condições de iluminação e da multidão, elas saíram muito boas em qualidade. Sem mencionar que ela foi coberta por poeira na última noite, como não havia grama mais sob os nossos pés.

EN/ I was full of joy when Descendents played and almost cried while singing along all their songs. After their show we managed to get the drummer’s, Bill Stevenson, setlist!! 😀 ❤

The whole festival experience was great, it was very well organized, there showers, junk and not so junk food (vegetarian and vegan options that thyago.net loved), and Belgium beer. I don’t like beer but Belle-vue Kriek managed to become one that I really like, it may be because it is mixed with red berries. And a lot of Monsters we drank, the main sponsor brand.

After 3 nights camping in the cold, we made our way back to Brussels by train and went covered in dust and earth to the hostel. The showers were closed on Sunday morning at the festival camp. After a good shower, we went out to see the city. But this will make another post.

PT/ Eu estava cheia de alegria quando o Descendents tocou e quase chorei enquanto cantava junto todas as suas canções. Depois do show, conseguimos ganhar o setlist do baterista, Bill Stevenson !! 😀 ❤

Toda a experiência festival foi ótima, foi muito bem organizado, há chuveiros, junk e não tão junk food (opções vegetarianas e veganas que thyago.net amou), e cerveja Belga. Eu não gosto de cerveja, mas Belle-Vue Kriek conseguiu tornar-se uma que eu realmente gosto, deve ser porque ela é misturado com frutas vermelhas. E bebemos um monte de Monsters, a principal marca patrocinadora.

Após 3 noites de acampamento no frio, fizemos o nosso caminho de volta a Bruxelas de trem e fomos cobertos de pó e terra para o albergue. Os chuveiros foram fechados no domingo de manhã, no campo do festival. Depois de um bom banho, saímos para ver a cidade. Mas isso vai dar outro post.
